"But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul." Deuteronomy 4:29
For me, the key word in this verse is not "seek" (even though that's the word I'm supposed to focus on) but "all". *All* your heart and *all* your soul. Some days, I'm doing well to be putting in half my heart and half my soul. Small wonder my days are so chaotic and I sometimes feel panicked.
Here is the rest of the passage:
"When you are in distress and all these things have happened to you, then in later days you will return to the Lord your God and obey him. For the Lord your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your ancestors, which he confirmed to them by oath." Deuteronomy 4:30-31
These are scary times but really, they were scary times before the novel coronavirus. And there will be scary times ahead, maybe even scarier times, after this current crisis.
May we all return to the God who never abandons nor destroys nor forgets us. May we give Him all our hearts and all our souls. And may we all rest in the knowledge that it will really all be okay.
Bible, journal, tea cup.
