My mind has been in a very "deep" place lately, so you can imagine how much fun I've been at parties.
Actually, I'm pretty gosh-darn fun.
I'd written a heavy post for Day 6 of the Lent photo project, but I've decided to post something a little more light-hearted instead.
This photo is a couple of years old, but Scout is dressed the same way today for Read Across America Day at school. I didn't get a photo this morning because it was one of those we're-running-late-and-the-bus-will-be-here-any-minute-and-where-are-your-shoes?-and-don't-let-the-DAAAAAAAAANNNNNN!!!-and-stop-everything-to-clean-the-nasty-litterbox-and-someone-please-feed-the-fish-WHERE-ARE-YOUR-SHOES??-and-what-did-I-do-with-my-%#$@%*-phone?!?-oh-crap-the-bus-is-here-time-to-go kinds of mornings.
So, no cute picture of today's Hermione (even though she really did look cute). We were just lucky the bus waited while my little Hogwartian ran back inside to get her magic wand. Or maybe it was her arm splint.
Sigh. She is so much like her mother.
Anyway, children, here is today's verse, from Proverbs:
A joyful heart is good medicine,
but a broken spirit dries up the bones. - Proverbs 17:22
For the Lent photo project, we're asked to identify "signs of divine presence" in our lives. It's kind of funny to think of "this crazy morning" and "divine presence" in the same breath. But it's there. It's what has given me this "joyful heart" when I've spent so much of my life in "broken spirit" mode, thanks to depression and anxiety. It's what what helps me put mornings like this into perspective, to laugh at the morning madness--and learn from it too.
Oh, and Happy Read Across America Day!
