Lent photo project 2020, day 36: innocent

"Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I rejoice because of you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil." Romans 16:19

Innocent in this verse is sometimes translated as "simple". Either way it denotes a turn from things that are destructive and injurious. We have all, like it or not, been derailed from our previous lives and forced to live more simply. What has that looked like? I don't know if I'd go so far as to say that a lot of my previous way of life was destructive or injurious, but in all honesty, I did a lot of things that were selfish. I wasted time, I wasted money, I didn't spend enough time with God, and nowhere enough time studying the Bible.

So far with this shelter in place, I have spent a lot more time with the family and it has been really nice. We are having to do a lot of things for our house that we had paid others to do, like housecleaning. The kids are super thrilled and ask me every day what new chore they can do! (Hahahaha) But seriously, this pandemic has forced me to go back to a lot of basics, reminding me who and what are and what should be my priorities.

I rejoice with each of you, my friends, as we seek out what is good and steer clear of what is evil.
This is a cute little ceramic penguin that #2 made for me when she was a kid.
