Food/Celebrate

I know that a lot of people like to take and post pictures of the food they make. I am not one of those people. I don't particularly like looking at other people's food, and I've never been a big fan of cooking shows. I'm not sure why. I kind of see food as a necessity of life, and not something to get unduly excited about.

Unless we're talking about baking.

You know ... that food that isn't really food, that food that isn't particularly healthy but that tastes oh so good. The more sugar and the more butter, the better.

I'm still not big on photographing my baking creations, but I did take this picture of my daughter frosting a layer cake for a birthday celebration last year for one of our neighbors. (See how I sneaked in the "celebrate" theme there?) We have been baking together since she was a tiny thing, and she now regularly bakes cookies, brownies, and cakes on her own. We'll occasionally use store-bought frosting (as in this picture), but generally we make everything from scratch.

Since this whole quarantine thing began, we haven't done much in the way of celebrations, but we've been baking a lot. We're hoping our celebrations, our get-togethers, and our little neighborhood parties will resume soon!
